2026 Seat 10 — post-draft operating plan
Authoritative roster
QB Justin Herbert (LAC) RB De'Von Achane (MIA), Travis Etienne Jr. (NO), Bhayshul Tuten (JAX), Kenny Gainwell (TB), Tyler Allgeier (ARI), MarShawn Lloyd (GB) WR Drake London (ATL), Tee Higgins (CIN), Mike Evans (SF), Makai Lemon (PHI), KC Concepcion (CLE) TE Kyle Pitts Sr. (ATL) K Cameron Dicker (LAC) D/ST Seattle
Default healthy lineup: Herbert; Achane/Etienne; London/Higgins; Pitts; Tuten/Evans at FLEX. Gainwell is the first RB contingency and Lemon/Concepcion are matchup/role-based WR depth. Do not force an RB into flex over Evans solely for positional balance.
Team shape
Strengths: premium RB ceiling (Achane), usable three-RB core, elite weekly WR ceiling, strong TE upside, depth with several contingent RB paths. No trade market means preserve the valuable RB contingencies unless their roles decisively fail and a clear weekly starter is obtainable with FAAB.
Risks: Tuten is not a bankable lead back; recent reporting calls the initial JAX chart Tuten/Chris Rodriguez co-starters, with LeQuint Allen potentially handling third downs. Atlanta concentrates London/Pitts outcomes and has QB uncertainty. Evans is 33 with repeated camp soft-tissue issues. No backup QB/TE; stream only when necessary.
Verified 2026 byes
Week 6: Achane, Higgins Week 7: Herbert, Tuten, Dicker Week 8: Etienne, Evans Week 10: Gainwell, Lemon Week 11: London, Pitts, Concepcion, Seattle, Lloyd Week 14: Allgeier
Week 11 requires proactive planning: it removes WR1, TE, D/ST and two bench pieces, but starting RBs and Evans remain. Carry/acquire a viable TE/DST replacement close to that period; no need to roster a long-term QB or K backup before Week 7. Allgeier's Week 14 bye is a real playoff-window problem, so he cannot be part of a semifinal plan (Weeks 14-15).
High-priority role/news checks
- Lloyd: highest-leverage bench asset. Aug. 26 reporting: GB GM said club has prepared for a possible Jacobs suspension; a report says likely suspension but no length/timing. Jacobs also had groin issue. Lloyd was healthy and reportedly played 5 of 7 first-drive starter snaps in one preseason game. Do not sell/drop on uncertainty; reassess immediately upon NFL discipline, Jacobs availability, or Lloyd health. He is a fragile player with only one game across first two seasons per outlook reporting.
- Allgeier: Aug. 24 reports said ARI waived Trey Benson; earlier reporting said Love/Allgeier could split RB1 work, and Love was hoped back for Week 1 after ankle injury. Allgeier has a plausible short-term role but likely committee. Start only with clear active role/usage or injury-driven opportunity.
- Evans: captured Aug. 27 report said he planned to play Week 1 after groin/quad tightness and missed practice Aug. 25; treat Week 1 status as probable but confirm final practice/inactives. High ceiling if active, but do not ignore a late downgrade.
- Dicker: Aug. 28 post-preseason report calls ailment minor/not a major concern, but details undisclosed; confirm availability. A temporary K replacement is acceptable, rather than losing a core player.
- London/Pitts: the opened Falcons injury report was from Dec. 2025, not current evidence. Do not label either currently injured from that story. Track Atlanta QB resolution and Week 1 practice status.
- Tuten: treat as a volatile flex, not a secure RB1. First 1-2 regular season games should decide whether his early-down share, pass-game use, and goal-line role justify continuing to start him.
- Gainwell: retains receiving/change-of-pace role with Bucky Irving projected primary; valuable floor and handcuff, especially if Irving misses time.
- Lemon/Concepcion: rookie upside holds; do not start on draft capital alone. Need routes/targets/role data. Lemon is tied to a run-heavy PHI concern; Concepcion has opportunity but Cleveland uncertainty.
In-season method
Prioritize FAAB on players with a realistic path to sustained top-24-ish RB/WR workload, especially injury-created lead RBs or rookies whose routes/targets break out. Because starters are strong, avoid spending major FAAB on low-ceiling bye fill-ins. Preserve roster spots for contingent RBs through the early season; reassess based on actual role. Stream K and D/ST aggressively by opponent/market context rather than defending preseason draft price. For lineup choices, prioritize confirmed health, role participation and weekly projection; use volatility only when an underdog situation needs ceiling.
Playoff focus
Playoffs are Weeks 14-17; two-week aggregate matchups reward stable playing time and avoiding dead lineup spots more than one-game gimmicks. Begin schedule/role assessment around midseason. Do not retain Allgeier for a Week 14 start; keep only if his broader post-bye role/value supports it. Prioritize active, healthy core and reliable options over speculative players once a playoff berth is likely, but maintain Lloyd if Jacobs discipline is unresolved.
